Aircraft History & Lineage

The Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm Bo 105 was the first light twin-engine helicopter in the world, and the first rotorcraft capable of aerobatic maneuvers including inverted loops. Developed by Bölkow of Ottobrunn, West Germany, it entered service in 1970 featuring a pioneering hingeless rotor system. Production facilities were established in Germany, Canada, Spain, Indonesia, and the Philippines, with over 1,400 produced in Germany and 1,640 total including licence production. Following MBB's acquisition by DASA in 1989, the helicopter division merged with Aérospatiale to form Eurocopter in 1992, continuing Bo 105 production until 2001, where it was formally replaced by the Eurocopter EC135.

BO-105 P — PAH-1 Military Lineage
The German Army procured a specialist anti-tank variant armed with up to six Euromissile HOT missiles, designated the Bo 105 PAH-1 (Panzerabwehrhubschrauber — "anti-tank helicopter"). A total of 212 PAH-1s were delivered between 1979 and 1984. The Bo 105 P is the export designation of this military-lineage airframe, engineered to the same structural and performance standard as the German Army anti-tank variant.
